El Calafate

To start, I didn't actually stay at this hostel but got to enjoy the fantastic "BBQ" and comida typical offered there. I had the good fortune of meeting the chef... Leer más (Mathias) while out in town and got an invite to experience his culinary gift. At this point, I had had enough lamb during this trip to know that it wasn't for me but when I tried the smoked lamb at America del Sur, I changed my opinion. The meat was so tender and burst with a smokey flavor, complimenting the crispy outside. Additionally, the steak was cooked to perfection. Likely the best meal I've had during my time in this country. Thank you for a memorable experience.

Leer más bit more quiet. Comfortable beds though, and the private bathroom has a hair dryer and shampoo, conditioner, soap in the shower which I haven’t seen that often in hostels. There’s a community kitchen and they also serve food. The location is stunning, great view from the shared areas and terrace! Only 10min to the city. There’s restaurants nearby within 5mins though.

It's a really fun place to be with many travelers (of course) and a clear view of the Andes Mountains in the distance. The rooms are not air conditioned - however, this is pretty normal from my understanding. It was the same at many places in Europe, so I don't think you should complain about that. Breakfast and dinner is excellent. Honestly it's just good. What else do you want? Food, view, service, low prices, and clean rooms. Close enough to walk to "downtown" El Calafate. Takes about 6-8 minutes to start passing bars by foot depending on your pace. Also, you will pass very fragrant lavender along the way. Definitely stop to give them a sniff.

I had a great experience at this Hostel and I would recommend it to friends traveling in this area. They keep the place clean, and better than advertised when it... Leer más comes to the energy of the place. Breakfast is great and the quality of the rooms is better than I’ve found elsewhere. The reason this place is so great is definitely because of the people who work there. Big thanks to Augustin, Micaela, and Bautista especially who were really kind and patient with me. They helped me organize tours and the bus system. My trip would have been les good without them. Huge thank you!
